1. About this policy
1.1 This policy explains your cancellation and refund rights when you take out a paid subscription to The Chamber (https://thechambergame.uk). It should be read together with our Terms of Service.
1.2 The Chamber subscription gives you access to digital content (an online game) supplied over the internet. This policy reflects your rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
1.3 Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
2. The 14-day cancellation right for digital content, and how it works
2.1 Because you buy the subscription at a distance (online), you normally have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of entering into the contract and to receive a refund. This is the "cooling-off period".
2.2 However, special rules apply to digital content that is supplied immediately. When you subscribe and start accessing the paid sessions straight away:
- you expressly ask us to begin supplying the digital content immediately, during the 14-day cooling-off period; and
- you acknowledge that, once supply has begun, you lose your right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
2.3 At the point of subscribing, we ask you to give this consent and acknowledgement before you get access. By subscribing and accessing the paid content, you agree to immediate performance and accept that you lose the 14-day cancellation right once access begins.
2.4 If you subscribe but do not access any paid content, and you cancel within the 14-day period, you remain entitled to your statutory refund. [SOLICITOR / OWNER TO CONFIRM how "access begins" is determined technically, for example the first load of a paid session, so the consent and loss-of-right are recorded clearly at checkout.]
3. Cancelling your renewing subscription
3.1 You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account or the Stripe customer portal we provide.
3.2 Cancelling stops future automatic renewals. You will not be charged again after you cancel.
3.3 Your access to paid sessions continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that, your account reverts to the free tier.
3.4 We do not provide pro-rata refunds for partial periods after access has begun, except where a refund is required by law (see clause 4). Cancelling part-way through a paid month or year does not entitle you to a refund of the remaining days, save where the law requires it.
4. Refunds
4.1 You may be entitled to a refund in certain situations, including where:
- you cancel within the 14-day cooling-off period and have not yet accessed any paid content (see clause 2);
- the digital content is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality, in which case you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to a repair, replacement or, where appropriate, a refund; or
- we are otherwise required by law to provide a refund.
4.2 Outside those situations, refunds are at our discretion. We may, for example, offer a goodwill refund or credit where we think it is fair, but we are not obliged to do so for change-of-mind cancellations of digital content you have already accessed.
4.3 Refunds, where due, are made to your original payment method via Stripe.
5. How to request a refund or get help
5.1 To request a refund, or if something has gone wrong with your subscription, contact us at david@actuallyai.co.uk with your account email and a brief description of the issue. We aim to respond within [SOLICITOR / OWNER TO SET a target response time, for example 5 working days].
5.2 If you believe you have been charged in error, or a renewal was taken after you cancelled, contact us and we will investigate and put right any genuine error.
6. Price changes and renewals
6.1 We give at least 30 days' notice by email before any subscription price change affects you, and the new price applies only from your next renewal. If you do not wish to renew at the new price, you can cancel before it takes effect, as described in clause 3 and in the Terms of Service.
